If you haven't seen him, you have definitely heard him! The warcry of the Hunters himself.
Name: Chris Woods
Position: Full back
When did you join #TeamHunter? August 2017
Did you have any experience playing rugby before? And what attracted you to rugby?
None - I moved to leeds last year and met a bunch of people who all talked about the Hunters so positively and it was like fate was pointing me in the direction and I couldnt not go.
Why do you think there is a need for Inclusive Rugby?
LGBT in sport needs to be celebrated more! Inclusive rugby does two things… it makes LGBT visible in sport which is not famous for being inclusive and secondly gives people a safe and informal space to try something new. A professional club might be intimidating but we certainly are not
What have you enjoyed the most about being a Hunter and what is your favourite memory so far?
I loved going to amsterdam and celebrating LGBT in sport as well as representing the Hunters at Leeds pride. My most memorable moment was on the pitch. Roaring my head off as I charged at guys twice my size to score a try - I did not think I had that in me!
What does being part of the Hunters mean to you?
It means everything! As a new boy to leeds, the hunters gave me a home and a family, if I am walking down the street and bump into someone I know, it instantly improves my day - this happens often!
Finally, to anyone reading this who is thinking of joining with experience or no experience playing rugby, but who haven’t yet decided to #showusyourtackle, what would you say to them?
No excuses - just join! I spent years finding reasons not to try rugby despite wanting to try. It isn’t for everyone - if you try it and don’t like it then at least you know - but at least you won’t regret not trying. Everyone is friendly and I came to the first session on my own - I left with a massive smile on my face!
